Having your way
Sep. 18th, 2009 10:01 pmWhile simple feelings and straightforward thoughts can be readily and easily derided, more complex works of the spirit provide a multitude of entertaining ways to do so. Creations that defy interpretation are, on the other hand, to be dismissed as "despicable nonsense" or "obnoxious drivel" or any other such word combination, whatever it might mean. Defying interpretation is stymieing laughter, while the latter is, as Aristotle succintly defines it, τοῦ αἰσχροῦ ... μόριον, Old Greek having been his native tongue in cheek.
